(3654) AAS is an asteroid that forms part of the asteroid belt and was discovered by the Indiana Asteroid Program team from the Goethe Link Observatory in Brooklyn, United States, on August 21, 1949.

Designation and name

AAS was initially given the designation 1949 QH1. Later, in 1991, at the proposal of Donald Edward Osterbrock and Frank K. Edmondson, it was named after the English acronym of the American Astronomical Society.

Orbital characteristics

AAS is located at an average distance of 2,262 ua from the Sun, being able to move away up to 2,715 ua and approach up to 1,809 ua. Its orbital inclination is 2.105 degrees and eccentricity 0.2003. It takes 1,243 days to complete one orbit around the Sun.

Physical characteristics

The absolute magnitude of AAS is 14. It is assigned to the Sq spectral type of the SMASSII classification.
