(3356) Resnik is an asteroid that forms part of the asteroid belt and was discovered by Edward L. G. Bowell on March 6, 1984 from the Anderson Mesa Station in Flagstaff, United States.

Designation and name

Resnik was initially given the designation 1984 EU. Later, in 1986, it was named in honor of the American astronaut Judith Resnik (1949-1986), who died in the Challenger accident.

Orbital characteristics

Resnik orbits at an average distance of 2,193 AU from the Sun, being able to move as far as 2,443 AU and as close as 1,942 AU. She has an orbital inclination of 4.097 degrees and an eccentricity of 0.1142. It takes 1,186 days to complete one orbit around the Sun.
