(3355) Onizuka is an asteroid belonging to the asteroid belt discovered on February 8, 1984 by Edward L. G. Bowell from the Anderson Mesa Station in Flagstaff, United States.

Designation and name

Onizuka was originally designated as 1984 CC1. Later, in 1986, it was named in honor of Ellison Onizuka (1946-1986), who died in the Challenger accident.

Orbital characteristics

Onizuka is located at an average distance of 2,186 ua from the Sun, being able to move away up to 2,331 ua and approach up to 2,042 ua. Its orbital inclination is 4.066 degrees and eccentricity 0.06614. It takes 1,181 days to complete an orbit around the Sun.
