Year 3 (III) was a common year beginning on a Monday or Tuesday (the sources differ) according to the Julian calendar, and a common year beginning on a Monday of the proleptic Julian calendar, in effect on that date. In the Roman Empire, it was known as the Year of the Consulate of Lamia and Servilius (or less frequently, year 756 Ab urbe condita). The designation 3 for this year has been used since the early medieval period, when the A.D. era became the prevalent European method of naming years.
