(2825) Crosby is an asteroid that is part of the asteroid belt and was discovered by Cyril V. Jackson from the Union Observatory in Johannesburg, South Africa, on September 19, 1938.

Designation and name

Crosby was originally designated as 1938 SD1. Later, in 1993, it was named in honor of the American actor and singer Bing Crosby (1903-1977).

Orbital characteristics

Crosby orbits at an average distance of 2,246 AU from the Sun, being able to get as close as 1,855 AU and as far as 2,636 AU. The orbital inclination of it is 3.521 degrees and the eccentricity 0.1738. It takes 1229 days to complete an orbit around the Sun.

Physical characteristics

The absolute magnitude of Crosby is 13.1.
