(28) Bellona is an asteroid that is part of the asteroid belt and was discovered on March 1, 1854 by Karl Theodor Robert Luther from the Düsseldorf-Bilk observatory, Germany. It is named after Bellona, a goddess from Roman mythology, on the occasion of the start of the Crimean War.

Orbital characteristics

Bellona orbits at an average distance of 2,775 AU from the Sun, and can get as close as 2,355 AU. The eccentricity of it is 0.1515 and the orbital inclination 9.433°. It takes 1689 days to complete one orbit around the Sun.
