27 (XXVII) was a common year beginning on Wednesday of the Julian calendar, in force on that date. In the Roman Empire, it was known as the Year of the Consulate of Piso and Frugi (or less frequently, year 780 Ab urbe condita). The designation 27 for this year has been used since the early medieval period, when the A.D. era became the prevalent European method of naming years.
