• 16 May: Heliogabalo is proclaimed Roman emperor in front of Macrino, who had ascended to the throne the previous year after assassinating Caracalla.
• 8 June: the troops of Heliogabalo and of Macrino, seekers of the imperial throne, face in the Battle of Antioch, with the victory of the first, which will thus access the throne. Macrino will escape from the battlefield shaving his beard; however, he will be caught and killed a few days later in Archelais.
