(200) Dynamene is an asteroid that forms part of the asteroid belt and was discovered by Christian Heinrich Friedrich Peters from the Litchfield Observatory in Clinton, United States, on July 27, 1879. It is named after Dynamene, a character from Greek mythology, whose first letters are reminiscent of the first letters of the Greek word for two hundred, the number of the asteroid.

Orbital characteristics

Dynamene orbits at an average distance of 2,738 AU from the Sun, and can get as close as 2,372 AU. The orbital inclination of it is 6.896° and the eccentricity 0.1336. It takes 1655 days to complete one orbit around the Sun.
