The 1850s were a decade that lasted from January 1, 1850, to December 31, 1859. The 1850s were a very turbulent decade, with wars such as the War of Crimea, which changed and shook European politics, as well as the expansion of colonization to the Far East, which also caused conflicts such as the Second Opium War.
