(1708) Pólit is an asteroid belonging to the asteroid belt discovered by José Comas y Solá on December 1, 1929 from the Fabra observatory in Barcelona, Spain.

Designation and name

Pólit was originally designated 1929 XA. Later it was named in honor of the Spanish astronomer Isidre Pólit (1880-1958), second director of the Fabra observatory.

Orbital characteristics

Pólit is located at an average distance from the Sun of 2.914 ua, being able to approach up to 2.02 ua and move away up to 3.808 ua. Its eccentricity is 0.3068 and its orbital inclination is 6.039°. It takes 1817 days to complete an orbit around the Sun.
