(1208) Troilus is an asteroid belonging to the Trojan asteroids of Jupiter discovered on December 31, 1931 by Karl Wilhelm Reinmuth from the Heidelberg-Königstuhl observatory, Germany.

Designation and name

Troilus was initially designated as 1931 YA. It was later named after Troilus, a character from Greek mythology.

Orbital characteristics

Troilus orbits at an average distance of 5.25 ua from the Sun, being able to move as far as 5,736 ua and as close as 4,765 ua. It has an eccentricity of 0.09247 and an orbital inclination of 33.54°. It takes 4,394 days to complete one orbit around the Sun.
