(120) Lachesis is an asteroid belt asteroid discovered by Alphonse Louis Nicolas Borrelly in 1872.

Discovery and naming

Lachesis was discovered on April 10, 1872 by Alphonse Borrelly from the Marseille Observatory, France, and independently the following night by Christian Peters from the Litchfield Observatory in Clinton, USA. It is named after Lachesis, a deity from Greek mythology.

Orbital characteristics

Lachesis orbits at an average distance from the Sun of 3.12 AU, being able to move up to 3.286 AU. The eccentricity of it is 0.05321 and the orbital inclination 6.963°. It takes 2013 days to complete an orbit around the Sun.

Physical characteristics
