(1188) Gothlandia is an asteroid that forms part of the asteroid belt and was discovered by José Comas y Solá on September 30, 1930 from the Fabra observatory in Barcelona, Spain.

Designation and name

Gothlandia was originally designated 1930 SB. Later it was named after the old word for Catalonia.

Orbital characteristics

Gothlandia orbits at an average distance of 2,191 AU from the Sun, being able to get as close as 1,796 AU and as far as 2,585 AU. The orbital inclination of it is 4.818° and the eccentricity 0.1802. It takes 1,184 days to complete one orbit around the Sun.

Gothlandia is part of the Flora asteroidal family.
