(1102) Pepita is an asteroid belonging to the asteroid belt discovered on November 5, 1928 by José Comas y Solá from the Fabra observatory in Barcelona, Spain.

Designation and name

Pepita was initially designated 1928 VA. She was subsequently named in honor of the discoverer using a feminine hypocoristic of her given name.

Orbital characteristics

Pepita is located at an average distance from the Sun of 3,067 ua, being able to move away up to 3,416 ua and approach up to 2,719 ua. It has an orbital inclination of 15.79° and an eccentricity of 0.1137. It takes 1,962 days to complete an orbit around the Sun.
