(11) Parthenope is an asteroid belonging to the asteroid belt discovered by Annibale de Gasparis on May 11, 1850 from the Capodimonte observatory in Naples, Italy. It is named after Parthenope, a mermaid from Greek mythology.

Orbital characteristics

Parthenope orbits at an average distance of 2,453 AU from the Sun, being able to get as close as 2,207 AU and as far as 2,698 AU. The orbital inclination of it is 4.63° and the eccentricity 0.1. It takes 1,403 days to complete an orbit around the Sun.
