(10427) Klinkenberg is an asteroid that is part of the asteroid belt and was discovered by Ingrid van Houten-Groeneveld, Cornelis Johannes van Houten and Tom Gehrels on September 24, 1960 from the observatory from Mount Palomar, United States.

Designation and name

Klinkenberg was initially designated as 2017 P-L. Later, in 2001, it was named after the Dutch astronomer Dirk Klinkenberg (1709-1799) at the proposal of Willem A. Fröger.

Orbital characteristics

Klinkenberg is located at an average distance of 2,233 AU from the Sun, being able to move away up to 2,721 AU and get closer to 1,746 AU. Its eccentricity is 0.2182 and its orbital inclination is 2.252 degrees. It takes 1219 days to complete one orbit around the Sun.
