Contenido In Japanese writing, the syllabic (or, more properly, moraic) characters す (hiragana) and ス (katakana) occupy the 13th. eɽ place in the modern gojūon (五十音) alphabetical ordering system, between し and せ; and the 47th and last in the iroha poem, after せ. In the table on the right, which follows the gojūon order (by columns, and from right to left), it is found in the third column (さ行, "SA column") and the third row (う段, "row U").
The character す comes from the kanji 寸, while ス comes from 須.
They can have the dakuten accent: ず, ズ.

According to the Hepburn, Kunrei-shiki and Nihon-shiki romanization systems:
