El Monte Elbert en el Sawatch Range es el pico más alto de las Montañas Rocosas y el punto más alto del estado de Colorado.

La prominencia topográfica de una cumbre es la diferencia de elevación entre dicha cumbre y el collado más alto o clave de una cumbre superior. El aislamiento topográfico de una cumbre es la distancia mínima ortodrómica hasta un punto de igual elevación.Este artículo define una cumbre significativa como una con al menos 100 metros (328,1 pies) de prominencia topográfica, y una cumbre mayor como una con al menos 500 metros (1640 pies) de prominencia topográfica. Una cumbre ultraprominente es una con al menos 1500 metros (4921 pies) de prominencia topográfica.
