Linterna Verde (película)
Linterna Verde se estrenó en Estados Unidos el 17 de junio de 2011 por Warner Bros. Pictures. La película recibió críticas generalmente negativas por su guion, tono, efectos visuales y falta de fidelidad al material original, y tuvo un rendimiento inferior en taquilla, recaudando 237 millones de dólares frente a un presupuesto de producción de 200 millones. Originalmente, también se pretendía iniciar una franquicia cinematográfica basada en personajes de DC. Mientras promocionaba Deadpool (en la que Reynolds interpreta a otro famoso superhéroe de cómics) en 2016, Reynolds dijo que filmar Green Lantern en sí había sido frustrante: "Realmente necesitas un visionario detrás de una película como esa, pero era la clásica historia de estudio: 'Tenemos un póster, pero no tenemos un guion ni sabemos lo que queremos; ¡comencemos a filmar!'" En una entrevista exclusiva con Screen Rant en 2021, Campbell reflexionó que no debería haber dirigido la película después de todo y admitió la responsabilidad de que la película 'no funcionara'. Secuela cancelada
En 2010, el director Martin Campbell confirmó la posibilidad de una trilogía de Linterna Verde. Warner Bros. planeó originalmente que Linterna Verde fuera la primera entrega de una nueva serie de películas de DC, y encargó el guion de una secuela a Greg Berlanti, Michael Green y Marc Guggenheim mientras se rodaba la primera película.
